I Have Hit the Motherload
A Czech bagpipe rock band.

They played at the Czech embassy tonight and sadly, I missed them. :(

aw crap. I would have loved to see them. The Chods come from a specific region in what was Bohemia, and that's where my family (the Konops, my maternal grandmother) were from. And yes, they have a bagpipe tradition-- how cool is that!

Did I ever tell you about my dad's cousin? She speaks Czech, and has a czech folk group. She composed a polka mass.

I can't make this stuff up.

Didn't know about your dad's cousin. A polka mass eh? That just sounds really wrong but yet, oddly right.

Last weekend was open house at the EU embassies as well. Drat!! Next weekend is open house for the South American, Asian and Pacific embassies that I might try and go to.
